Prospective candidates must be willing to relocate to Chiang Mai, Thailand, as this role is office-based and centred in this vibrant city.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

We are seeking a dedicated Geophysicist to join our dynamic team. The Geophysicist will play a vital role in assisting with the processing and interpretation of geophysical data sets, contributing to our projects’ success. We welcome candidates with degrees in geophysics or geology and a passion for learning, even if they are not yet proficient in all aspects of data processing and interpretation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Data Processing and Interpretation: Process and interpret geophysical data sets, including SSS (Sidescan Sonar), SBP (Sub-Bottom Profiler), MAG (Magnetometer), MBES (Multibeam Echo Sounder), multi-channel 2D, and 3D SEISMIC data, under the guidance of experienced team members.

Software Familiarity: Ideally, you should have a basic understanding of geophysical software packages, such as Oasis Montaj, DUG, Kingdom, Globe Claritas, Sonar Wiz, Moga Sea View, QGIS, Autoclean, and Qimera. You must have a willingness to learn and improve skills continuously over time.

Theoretical Knowledge: If you have never worked in the industry, you must possess a strong theoretical foundation in geophysical data processing and interpretation principles, which can be applied to real-world projects.

Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including senior geophysicists, project managers, and data specialists, to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality results.

Continuous Learning: Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and upskilling, as Ocean Geophysics encourages professional development and provides on-the-job training.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geophysics or Geology.
A fundamental understanding of geophysical data processing and interpretation principles.
Ability to process and interpret at least two of the specified data sets or a strong theoretical background in geophysical data analysis.
Basic familiarity with geophysical software packages is advantageous but not mandatory.
Enthusiasm for learning and up-skilling in a supportive work environment.
Thai nationality or the right to work in Thailand is required due to the job’s location.
