ABOUT THE ROLE.

We are searching for a talented and experienced QGIS Environment Administrator to become an integral member of our dynamic team. The GIS Enterprise Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing our enterprise multi-user QGIS environment. They will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our geospatial infrastructure while actively participating in the development and enhancement of geospatial solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geospatial technology and have expertise in QGIS, PostGIS, PostgreSQL, Python, GDAL scripting, and QGIS plugin development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

System Administration:

Manage and maintain the enterprise QGIS environment, ensuring its stability and availability.
Perform routine system updates, backups, and security checks to protect data and maintain system integrity.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Implement and manage user access controls, permissions, and security policies.

Database Management:

Administer PostGIS and PostgreSQL databases, optimizing them for geospatial data storage and retrieval.
Develop and maintain spatial databases, tables, and indexes.
Ensure data integrity and implement backup and recovery strategies.

QGIS Development:

Collaborate with Geophysicists, geospatial analysts, developers to develop and enhance QGIS plugins, scripts, and workflows.
Customize and configure QGIS to meet the specific needs of the organization.
Stay updated on the latest QGIS developments and recommend best practices.

Scripting and Automation:

Develop Python and GDAL scripts to automate geospatial processes and tasks within the QGIS environment.
Create and maintain documentation for scripts, workflows, and plugins to facilitate knowledge sharing.

Training and Support:

Provide training and support to end-users to ensure efficient utilization of the QGIS environment.
Assist users with troubleshooting and resolving geospatial-related issues.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS.

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in administering QGIS in an enterprise environment.

Strong knowledge of PostGIS and PostgreSQL database administration.

Proficiency in Python scripting for geospatial data manipulation and automation.

Familiarity with geospatial data formats, standards, and best practices.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience with other GIS software, GDAL scripting, QGIS plugin development, and web mapping technologies is a plus.
