LOCATION.

Prospective candidates must be willing to relocate to Chiang Mai, Thailand, as this role is office-based and centred in this vibrant city.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

We are searching for a highly skilled and experienced highly skilled and experienced Senior Geophysicist to join our senior team. The Senior Geophysicist will play a key role in processing and interpreting various geophysical data sets, contributing to the company’s growth, and assisting in mentoring and training junior team members. The ideal candidate will have expertise in multiple data sets and a strong proficiency in geophysical software packages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Data Processing and Interpretation: Process and interpret a variety of geophysical data sets, including SSS (Sidescan Sonar), SBP (Sub-Bottom Profiler), MAG (Magnetometer), MBES (Multibeam Echo Sounder), multi-channel 2D, and 3D SEISMIC data.

Software Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of geophysical software packages, including but not limited to Oasis Montaj, DUG, Kingdom, Globe Claritas, Sonar Wiz, Moga Sea View, QGIS, Autoclean, and Qimera, to analyze and manipulate data effectively.

Mentoring and Training: Assist in the training and development of junior team members, providing guidance, support, and knowledge transfer to help them grow professionally.

Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy and quality of processed geophysical data, adhering to industry standards and best practices.

Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, data specialists, and clients, to achieve project objectives and deliverables.

Offshore Data Acquisition: On occasion, participate in offshore data acquisition activities, providing technical expertise and support. Travel for offshore work will be limited.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS.

Master’s or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Oceanography, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in geophysical data processing and interpretation, with a focus on the specified data sets.

Proficiency in processing and interpreting geophysical data using industry-standard software packages.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Previous experience in mentoring or training junior team members is an asset.

Willingness to travel occasionally for offshore data acquisition activities.
